One of my dad's friend's did the Mongol rally a year or two ago in a FIAT Panda. He came over afterwards and spent a couple hours showing pictures and telling stories. It was awesome.

Yeah, probably, has to be small so that narrows it down to mainly Japanese Kei 4x4s

I want to do it, I would like to do the Peking-Paris. I would have to rally prep my 240z.

I think the engine in the 240Z is too big to be allowed in mongol. 1.2L or less. It should work for P-P though.

Oh I didn't know they had a displacement limit. The Peking is really what I want to do, they have another one I think in S/E Asia, Tiger Rally Maybe.

Displacement limit, AND you have to donate your car to charity at the finish line. There are some vehicles that, due to being highly sought after in Mongolia, are allowed to run even if they're over the displacement limit. Ambulances, for example.

So you could technically run 7.3L of indestructable freedom in it?

Maybe? It's been a while since I read through the rules. I'm not sure if using a desirable vehicle waives the displacement rules entirely, or just increases them

Three simple rules (apparently).
Makes me proud to be British. :)
